About Bill Gray MA. PG Dip. MBACP. (Accred).
Finding the ‘right’ counsellor can be a confusing undertaking - coming for therapy is a big deal. The thought of it may be scary; the prospect of facing issues which perhaps have been concealed for a long time can be overwhelming.
As an experienced counsellor I will accompany you in your journey, no matter how difficult things may appear.
I work with clients suffering from anxiety and depression; but specialise in conflict, unresolved grief and loss - those issues which can play painfully over and over in your mind in a seemingly endless cycle.
Sometimes we all have things that we need help facing, figuring out, and overcoming. It might be an overwhelming life event, a crippling trauma, a transition, or life changes that may be hard to move past, or accept.
Through my training and experience, I will work with you to understand the answers you may be seeking. Whether you are struggling with a relationship or are experiencing problems at work or home, I am here to provide care, compassion and a professional approach.
Coming for counselling can be stressful enough without having to worry about parking, or finding a toilet – or, if it is the case, feeling uncomfortable about being in somebody’s house.
Being mindful of that, I provide a peaceful space in an easy to find location, where clients don’t have to worry about such problems. I work from a comfortable purpose built studio, with all facilities and ample parking, set in the garden of my cottage in a tranquil village six miles East of Bury St. Edmunds (literally five minutes from the A14) and only 35 miles from Cambridge, and 19 miles from Ipswich.
As a therapist, my responsibility is to provide a safe, confidential, non-judgmental environment in which we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life which cause concern or distress.
Taking the first step towards getting help is often the most difficult.
My training, work experience and any achievement
I qualified as a person-centered therapist at the University of East Anglia, where I completed the BACP accredited Postgraduate Diploma in counselling.
I also hold a Master of Arts in counselling research from UEA.
In 2015 I completed the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), Counselling For Depression training programme.
As well as working in private practice, I am an associate with MTCIC in Bury St. Edmunds where I work as an IAPT counsellor seeing NHS clients.
In addition, I am a counsellor at one of Suffolk’s leading independent schools.
I am a member of the East Anglia Counselling Alliance. A regional group of counsellors who trained together, and who are collectively committed to the highest professional standards in counselling and psychotherapy. www.eastangliacounsellingalliance.com
In addition, I work for Suffolk Mind as a specialist dementia therapist, working with sufferers and their carers.
I have also worked with St. Barnabas Counselling Centre in Norwich and the Student Counselling Service at UEA.
I am a registered accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their code of ethics. I also have enhanced DBS clearance. Further Information
For many years I worked in the music industry until a personal crisis prompted me to seek therapy. From that experience, I derived a deeper knowledge of myself and as a consequence started on the journey to becoming a counsellor.
I’m amazed by the way we go about our daily lives, despite the burdens and chaos we sometimes carry inside ourselves. We are resilient creatures, more so than most of us realise, and I believe we have the potential to change.
Through my own experience I have an understanding of how important it is to find a therapist with whom you can feel completely at ease, so feel free to call me for an informal chat.
